Tyrone “TJ” Johnson: Woodwind Specialist and accomplished professional musician in the Jazz, Latin Jazz, Funk/R&B, and Pop Genres.
Throughout his career, TJ has worked in a wide variety of musical situations and settings dating back to some of his earliest work as principal orchestra pit clarinetist with the Greater Cleveland Playhouse Production Company, to his big band and small jazz ensemble work performed across the United States, Canada and Europe. Focused primarily on classical studies while attending the University of Wisconsin La Crosse, later accepted into the jazz studies & performance degree program at Arizona State University, where his career began to take off.
His education, background, and experience have allowed him to work and perform with legendary iconic performers Clark Terry, Gerry Mulligan, Herbie Mann, Chuck Mangione, Bobby Shew, Marcus Belgrave, and David “Fathead” Newman to name a few. And as the opening act for Frankie Beverly & Maze and Kenny Loggins.
Venues include major four & five-star hotels & resorts as well as large concert and corporate conventions; The Renaissance Center, Detroit Michigan, Hotel Del Coronado, San Diego California, and major special events including Super Bowl XXX Victory Celebration party for the Dallas Cowboys team and organization, Phoenix Arizona. As well as major music Festivals including multiple appearances at the Lansing Jazz Festival.
